TLS 1.2 to become the minimum TLS protocol level for all Vouched API endpoints

At Vouched, we’re continuously improving our service offering to deliver a world class Identity Verification Platform that meets the requirements of the most security-sensitive organizations. To respond to evolving technology and standards for Transport Layer Security (TLS), we will be updating the TLS configuration for all Vouched API endpoints to a minimum of version TLS 1.2. This change means you will no longer be able to use TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 with any Vouched API endpoints after January 15, 2023. If your systems already support TLS 1.2 or later, you will not be impacted by this change.

Device GeoLocation Information Available

Vouched now supports capturing precise Device GeoLocation information if the end user grants access to GPS location information.

eCBSV SSN Verification Now Available

Vouched now electronically verifies social security numbers directly with the Social Security Administration's eCBSV service, giving you access to the highest quality data possible. Detect the telltale signs of potential identity theft or fraud, such as invalid SSNs, name mismatches, and SSNs associated with deceased individuals.

Electronic consent-based social security number verification is available for all qualifying financial institutions and requires a separate contract.

Mapping Device and Document Location

You can now find a visual representation of the locations of an end-user device relative to a document submitted as part of a visual IDV submission on the Location tab.

Crosscheck Model Update - Coming June 1st, 2022

What is Crosscheck?

Crosscheck verifies a user’s submitted information against several different data sources to confirm their name, email, phone, address, and IP.

What’s Changing?

One of our core models for Crosscheck is changing to help better identify good vs risky interactions. These are the major factors in this update:

What Do I Need to Do?

Once the model update launches on June 1st, 2022, you can expect to see a slight increase in the number of Crosscheck jobs flagged as “Warning”. By default, Crosscheck uses a confidence score of 0.5 to flag warnings. If you would like to maintain a similar warning rate to the old model, you can contact us to change your confidence score threshold to 0.35 to mitigate the impact of this update. Otherwise, you don't need to do anything.

It’s important to remember that identity verification (IDV) jobs flagged by Crosscheck will not automatically be rejected. When a job is flagged by Crosscheck, it will simply add a warning status to that job in your Vouched Dashboard, along with the details of what triggered the warning.

If you have any questions or concerns about this update, please contact us at support@vouched.id.

Dual-Sided ID Support

Some ID documents have important information printed on both the front side and the back side. Vouched will now detect when the back of an ID document is required and prompt the user to take a photo of it.

For example, the issue date and expiration date of this Swiss ID card are located on the back:

We are launching with 30+ recognized dual-sided IDs, and will add more as they are discovered.

Integration methods supporting dual-sided IDs at launch:

  • JS Plugin
  • Mobile SDKs
  • Candidate Links (Vouched Now)

Note: In our JS Plugin and Candidate Links, IDs with required fields on the back will always require a photo of the back, regardless of includeBarcode or includeBackId settings

Filter Response Fields in GET /jobs API Endpoint

You can now filter the fields we send in the API response when searching for job data. Prior to this change, the only option was to receive the entire object, and we have a huge job object (220 lines). This change makes exporting data and sending it to another system much easier.

For example, if I want to get the first name, last name, and completed status for a job, the response looks like this:

  "total": 183,
  "page": 1,
  "pageSize": 1,
  "totalPages": 183,
  "items": [
      "id": "jaVltL0HD",
      "completed": null,
      "result": {
        "firstName": "VIKTOR",
        "lastName": "BOUT"

For more info, please see our API Reference.
